A boy finds a chick which has just broken out of its shell. He grows fond of it and feels that he has to protect it holding it delicately in his hands. At night, when he goes to bed, he puts the chick in a sort of nest, but the chick calls him insistently. The boy drops a stone on it and goes to bed.
