The story of the young girl with golden fingers – Once upon a time there was a young shepherdess held captive inside a dark castle by a giant. Every time she pricked herself, golden threads came streaming out of her fingers; she used these threads to secretly embroider a handkerchief. One day she manages to escape, but the giant runs after her, right up to the river bank. The giant then blows some air out and fills the golden veil that the young girl wears round her neck, lifting the young shepherdess up in to the air and over a field of white lilies. A prince sees her and falls in love with her. After leading her to his kingdom, they get married. The giant, on the other hand, is transformed into a tree, with its roots locked into the shady river.
