Banana skin – On the borderline between two cities, a police agent stops a van to inspect it and attacks one of the passengers. After getting out of the vehicle, the man is accused of hiding a bomb in his trousers and of being a revolutionary. The passenger declares his only weapon, in a country like Africa, is democracy;the country is dominated by corruption and injustice, it is as slippery as a banana skin and ruled by a dictatorial authority supported by neo colonialism. A sergeant identifies him as a good writer who is useful to the President’s discourses, so he saves him from the situation. But back at home even his wife tells him off for getting once more into trouble. Africa is their homeland and it is necessary to endure the dark times so as to finally see the country shine in the light of hope. And for dinner, indeed…they have banana skin soup!
