Because of droughts and poor harvest, Amado decides to leave his own country, the Burkina Faso, and try his luck in the Ivory Cost. Here Amado is welcomed by a few relatives and finds a job in a cocoa and coffee plantation. Forty years later, he is now wealthy and has created a large family together with a girl from the Ivory coast. In September 2002, however, there is a big uproar and all the people from Burkina Faso are kicked out and sent home; so Amado returns to his own country, where he is forced to start everything from scratch. He now regrets not having invested in his home land.
